From hard-core outdoor enthusiasts to city dwellers wanting dry feet. Serious environmental activists to novice recyclers. This is the place to connect and share.
Earthkeeping is a simple challenge and common commitment to be environmentally responsible. “Earth”—where we all live, plus “keeping”—our way of keeping it great. Earthkeeping is straightforward, practical, common sense. It means taking actions that enable you to be a good steward of the earth. Earthkeeping is the products you use, like those made with environmentally conscious materials or made by eco-conscious companies. Earthkeeping is planting trees, greening your community, recycling and other things that better the environment. Earthkeeping is taking a stand on issues that affect the environment, like climate change.
Live close to work? Hop on a bike instead of driving. Live in the city? Look into greening your building’s rooftop. Even something as small as planting a single tree in your yard can make a difference. Earthkeeping can also be as simple as purchasing locally grown, sustainable foods and earth conscious products. The more eco-conscious products and companies you choose to buy from, the more eco-conscious products and companies there will be. Your wallet has the power to make companies take better care of our planet
With so many expensive eco-trends out there, it’s easy to dismiss saving the planet as “too-costly” or “inconvenient”. That’s just not true. There are plenty of inexpensive, very easy Earthkeeping activities you can start doing today. Recycling paper and plastic is one great way to reuse our limited resources and cut down on landfill accumulation. Carpooling to work can also help cut down on emissions, and shopping locally reduces fuel consumption and wasted shipping materials. You can weather-strip your home or just replace your old, incandescent light bulbs with energy efficient CFL bulbs. With so many easy, eco-conscious options, it’s not too hard to Earthkeep and no, it’s not expensive.
Everyone needs to do their part – including us. We designed the Earthkeepers™ collection because we love the outdoors. Of course, we realize that by making our products, we’re part of the problem. We believe it’s time for companies, like ours, to take a look at how the way they do business affects the environment and do something about it. Earthkeepers™ gear is one way we’re trying to do exactly that.
We’re taking steps to reduce our impact, like cutting back our emissions, using renewable energy and putting more organic and recycled materials in our gear. Our Timberland® Earthkeepers™ collection uses materials like recycled PET linings, organic cotton and leathers from tanneries achieving Leather Working Group silver rated status for industry leading water, waste and energy management.

Earthkeepers gear is available at Timberland retail locations. To find out where you can get your own pair, visit our Timberland store locator or shop online at www.timberland.com.
Many Timberland® footwear styles feature some recycled content. Even when it comes to the hidden structural parts of your shoe, our design teams, product developers and supplier partners think of ways to make footwear more eco-conscious. We want you to feel good about the shoes you buy, which is why we created product icons to show you just how “green” each pair is.
Our Earthkeepers footwear takes it to the next level by using materials like recycled PET (the stuff plastic bottles are made of) linings, 42% recycled rubber soles, organic cotton and leathers from tanneries achieving at least silver rated status for industry leading water, waste and energy management from the Leather Working Group. And we’ve even gone one step further with Earthkeepers™ 2.0, footwear that can be disassembled and at least 50% recycled, rather than discarded, at the end of its product life. All you have to do is register your footwear online, and when you’re ready to return them, drop them off at any Timberland® store.
